Join us on a gentle 6‑mile circular walk along Kirkwall's old bridle way and Cattie Maggie’s quarry, a route we've affectionally named Cattie Maggie's Walk, named after one of Kirkwall's lesser known memorable characters of the 19th Century. Beginning at Scapa Beach and winding past Inganess Bay with sweeping views of sea and sky, the path leads through farmland, bridges over burns, and quiet tracks edged with stone walls and wire fences – a route rich in history and Orkney’s everyday beauty. Whether you come alone or with a friend, you’ll find connection, reflection, a space to breathe and fun along the way. Time: 3 hours - 3.5 hours 10am – 1pm/1.30pm Location: Scapa Beach, Royal Oak Remembrance Garden, Kirkwall. https://maps.app.goo.gl/KttqEqc8gGwkpYqz6 Terrain: Single track road, bridle ways, grassy paths and wooden walkways which may be slippery when wet. Some short section on and crossing a busy road on the outskirts of Kirkwall. Distance: 10km/6mi Transport to and from Scapa beach can be provided for an additional £5. Please let Sarah know if you would like a lift from Rendall, Finstown or central Kirkwall.
