Or do you love the thrill of kayaking and the magic of the past?  Paddle into the heart of Neolithic Orkney, where ancient stories rise from the stones and landscape.  Explore the iconic Churchill Barriers, built during wartime and now home to striking wrecks and rich marine life.  Journey across the waves to a sacred, uninhabited island steeped in Viking and medieval history - a place few ever reach.   With Summit to Sea Adventures, you don't just kayak... you step into history, guided by stories that bring the landscape and people alive.

Kayaking trips can be a mix of kayaking, walking and history which make our trips really unique. ​

We are a family friendly business and strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all our guest.  We are committed to making our tours and trips as accessible as possible, tailored to meet your individual needs.  If you have any specific requirement or need assistance, please reach out to us.

The location of our kayaking trips vary.  We have no premises or base and will share a meeting location a few days before your booking.  Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather and sea conditions in Orkney, the location of your trip will be decided a few days before or at the latest on the morning of your trip.  

Costs  will vary depending on half day, full day, multi-day trips and group size.  There will be additional cost for entrance to site visits, ferry costs and other extras. 

  • Day trips start at £125 per person.  We need a minimum of 3 people to run the trip.  The minimum cost of a full day trip is £375 for a private booking by a single person or two people booking.  We try merge bookings if requested and when possible.

  • Half Day trips: £85 per person.  We need a minimum of 3 people to run the trip.  The minimum cost of a full day trip is £255 for a private booking by a single person or two people booking.  We try merge bookings if requested and when possible.

 

All essential equipment including kayak, paddle, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and kayaking jacket will be provided however you are welcome to bring your own kayak and kit.  

Here is a list of what to bring:

  • shoes you don't mind getting wet

  • drink and snack

  • swimwear or polyester t-shirt for underneath the wetsuit

  • warm layer (fleece or woolen jumper)

  • hat and gloves (might be comfortable even on our cooler summer days)

  • sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen

  • towel
