Summit to Sea Adventures offers kayaking coaching and skills development, from beginner to advanced level, specific to your needs. We are also BCAB Personal Performance Award Providers of the Paddle Start, Paddle Discover, Paddle Explorer and up to Coastal Sea Kayak Award .

Orkney is exceptional for sea kayaking because it combines a wildly varied coastline, sheltered and exposed waters, abundant wildlife, and world‑class tidal features. all within a compact, easily navigable archipelago. The islands offer something for every paddler, from gentle bays to exhilarating tide races, making it one of the most versatile sea‑kayaking destinations in the UK!

Personal Performance Awards

The BCAB Personal Paddle Performance Awards offer a brilliant pathway for paddlers who want to build confidence, refine technique, and enjoy more rewarding days on the water. Whether you are brand‑new to paddling or looking to deepen your skills, these awards focus on real‑world ability, personal progression, and safe, enjoyable journeys. We provide both training and assessment, creating a supportive environment where paddlers can learn at their own pace, develop strong foundations, and leave feeling capable, empowered, and ready for their next adventure.

Forward Paddling

Taking one of the least practiced but most important skills back to basics and building on one of the fundamental parts of kayaking. Making the boat go where we want it to, learn how to generate effortless power and improve speed, stamina and boat control. This workshop may turn super geeky!

Tidal Intro

Learn about the power of tides in a controlled, safe environment where we will play with breaking in and out of the tide, eddy hopping and how to read water, as well as do small tidal crossings on the move to make our kayaking easier.

Intro to Moderate and Advanced water conditions

Build confidence in a safe environment where we can push ourselves into more dynamic water and learn about all aspects of boat control including head winds, side winds, turning in conditions, small downwind runs, surf landings and rescues. A really fun way to build confidence into more advanced conditions.
