Service Description

For our full day walking trip on Hoy we will take the ferry from Houton to Lyness and drive in our Summit to Sea Adentures vehicle to the West part of the island with its heathery hills and breathtaking Rackwick beach. This tour includes a walk to the famous sea stack, the Old Man of Hoy, which takes around 3 hours in total. We will visit sites such as Dwarfie Stane, a unique Neolithic chamber carved into the rock, the Hoy Heritage Museum in Moaness and Betty Corrigal's grave. This day trip includes time for lunch and opportunities for taking in the amazing scenery over a hot drink and a snack. We finish the day with a visit to the Scapa Flow museum in Lyness. Time: 10 Hours (including ferry travel) Ferry cost is included in the price. Meet in Houton at 7:30am for the ferry departure at 08:00 Ferry returns to Houton at 17:15 Difficulty level: Moderate walk on uneven paths. Some sections of the path to the Old Man of Hoy are steep and can be muddy. What to bring: - bottle of water - snack - packed lunch - waterproof jacket and trousers - hat, gloves and extra warm layer to wear when we sit to enjoy the view - sun cream and sunhat Contact us for more information.
